Green Drinks presents… Solid Energy!

Yes folks, you read right, we have Solid Energy presenting at this Thursday’s Green Drinks.

Andy Matheson, General Manager, Renewable Energy at Solid Energy will talk about the company’s renewable energy initiatives, particularly biofuels.

5:30pm Thursday 26 August, in the No. 8 Dining Room at The Twisted Hop in Poplar Lane.  Andy will speak from 6pm.

This is a great opportunity for intelligent and discerning folk to make up their own minds about Solid Energy’s biofuels programme.  What are their motivations?  Are biofuels a legitimate answer to our energy woes?  What are they actually achieving at the moment?

Andy is a down-to-earth, approachable guy.  He is keen to tell his story, so this is a great chance to have a dialogue.

Come along and ask your questions.  I personally will be fascinated to hear what the questions and answers are on these widely debated issues.

Green Drinks is your chance to mix and mingle with the keen environmental doers and thinkers of Christchurch.  Come along, it will be great to see you.

Green Drinks this month will be held from 5:30pm on Saturday July 24 at The Chambers at Our City O-Tautahi as part of the Ecoexpo ’10′s exhibitor party.

Ecoexpo NZ the organisers of Christchurch’s leading annual sustainability show and the sustainability feature at the Canterbury Home Show (Eco Living), are sponsoring the July Green Drinks session along with Yealands Estate.

Yealands Estate, an Ecoexpo ’10 exhibitor, has very generously supplied a selection of 2009 vintages to showcase their sustainable quality wines that don’t cost the earth.

Because of the nature of this event, numbers are strictly limited. RSVP here.

Green Drinks – June

On Thursday 24 June, Green Drinks is delighted to welcome Hugh Nicholson, Senior Urban Designer at the CCC, to present on the work of legendary Danish urban designer Jan Gehl.  Gehl recently came up with a 35 year blueprint on how inner Christchurch should look.  With a global reputation as a designer who is pedestrian, public transport and cycle-friendly, we figure Gehl and his Christchurch study will be of particular interest to Green Drinkers.

Hands up all those who attended the first ever Green Drinks in October 2007.  This month’s venue will take you back.

The 24 June 2010 Green Drinks will be held at The Twisted Hop, Poplar Lane.  We start at 5:30pm, with Hugh’s presentation commencing at about 6pm.  You will find us in the dining room, around the corner from the main bar and accessible directly from the Poplar Lane plaza.

For the record, the first ever Green Drinkers in October 2007 were the convivial posse of Marney, Sue, Betty, Frida, Katie, David, Alan and Jenny.  We managed to squeeze around one table.  We have gone from strength to strength since then, with over 100 folk at a couple of events.  But we haven’t forgotten our founding drinkers and hope we see you eight again in June 2010!
